WEEK 2: THE WOMEN

Not as strong as last week, but I think Paula might be on to something. Variety is important, as Jordin, Melinda, Stephanie, and Lakisha are all great, but are really similar in their sound. This means that their votes are going to be spread across all four girls.

Should go this week: Antonella and Alaina Alexander
Will go this week: Hailey Scarnato and Alaina

Not so much to write about the girls, they just didn't blow me away. Kind of ho hum, and not even that much to poke fun at. Maybe it was the judges trying to steal the show?

Those of you with Tivo or DVR, rewind and see if you can see Randy's eyebrows when Simon says Alaina's singing is like Randy running a 100-meter dash. I believe Randy's facial expression is similar to one who has just been told that he is the father of Anna Nicole's baby!

Who should go home: Antonella and Leslie
Who will go home: Stephane and Leslie
BSC Award: Stephanie trying to cover Beyonce - not your style of music, Leslie mumbling her way thought the end of a Nina Simone song [oddly enough AJ sang the same song with a different arrangement], Melinda - I know the judges loved it but I just didn't think it fit her personality.
Bad 60's outfits: Antonella and Leslie
Cream of the crop: Gina because I think she picked a great song for her voice and really sang it well. I have to agree with Simon that the red dress did not go at all and I thought it was too tight and unflattering.

Random notes: I would like to see the face Randy would make if he actually ran a 100 yards! Haley keep your arms down when your signing unless your putting up the rock on fist during a rendition of Disturbed's Ten Thousand Fists. Sabrina, keep your voice in check and sing the big notes and don't, as Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons might say, Shout It Out Loud. Finally, Antonella, take the judges criticism with a little class. I know there are pictures of you floating around the internet [some really of you and some are not] which show you lack it, but now that 35+ million folks are watching you, try a little humility. And Simon was right, they did pick Jennifer Hudson, we did not.

Overall not as impressive as week 1 and a much more even week between the men and women.

The women of color are by far the best. Now all we need to do is pick the most likeable or hottest one. None of them are hot. If it weren't for illeterate-tasia a few seasons back, Stephanie might have a better shot. Doolittle was great vocally, and she seems nice. Lakisha is good, but might not be the looker they would need for marketing. Jordin is a little immature, but spunky and has a good voice. The other girl, I forget her name, looks like a busted nicole ritchie. So I guess what I am saying is that none of these girls are both attractive and talented at this point. My vote might be for Blake to bring it home.

I agree that they are all the best singers, but if they keep all of the black chubby women, then American Idol Wednesdays start to look like Soul Train and honestly, all start to sound the same. I personally like Stephanie, as she is the hottest of the field there.
